Throughout Gloucestershire, there are many children, teenagers and young adults who are responsible for the care of a parent or a sibling.  Not surprisingly, this incredible duty has a huge impact on their lives, physically, mentally and emotionally.  Gloucestershire Young Carers offers a wide range of services all of which are dedicated to supporting both the carers and their families.

The grants we've awarded to Gloucestershire Young Carers have helped support the charity in many ways - from running weekly recreational groups, to providing awareness raising in schools and helping young people into jobs.

Being a young carer carries a huge weight of responsibility and spending time with others in the same situation can make a big difference to how young carers cope. With the funding we provided, the organisation is also working in schools to establish a young carers lead, a person that a carer can go to if they have any problems. The grants are also helping young adult carers gain work experience, complete job applications, apply to further education and apprenticeships.
