The Bike Project works with young people across the county to build confidence, improve communication skills and improve their attitude to learning - all through the simple activity of bicycle building.

We awarded a grant of £2,500 to support a four-week workshop for young people to build and maintain their own bikes.  The course is aimed at children who lack confidence, are not engaged in school or are struggling at home.  The tutors use the course to build trust and directly engage with the students by teaching them basic skills. Being completely responsible for building and fixing their own bicycle, encourages pride and contentment in their work and learning. Experience they can hopefully apply to their school and home life.

The Gloucestershire Bike Project accepts donations of bikes that are no longer used or wanted. For more information visit www.gloucestershirebikeproject.co.uk or telephone 01452 690979.
